I write systems software and I train models. For five months in 2025 I worked inside VLC's C++ and Qt/QML codebase as a Google Summer of Code contributor at VideoLAN, building a recommendation engine that learns from playback behaviour.

Most of the rest of my work sits at the same junction: a model that has to survive contact with a real deployment — behind an API, inside an app somebody actually opens, on a machine that costs money to keep running.

I am finishing a B.Tech in Computer Science at CMR College of Engineering & Technology, graduating 2026. What follows is the catalogue. Every number in it is the number the repository reports, including the ones that are not flattering.

Designed and integrated a machine-learning recommendation module into VLC Media Player, personalising content suggestions from user playback behaviour.

  • 01Selected to work on “AI-Powered Media Recommendation Engine for VLC” inside VideoLAN's C/C++ and Qt/QML codebase — a codebase measured in decades, not sprints.
  • 02Built the recommendation module against playback history rather than metadata alone, so suggestions reflect what a person actually watches instead of what a file claims to be.
  • 03Worked asynchronously with a distributed mentor team through Git-based review, upstream contribution standards, and CI gates. Nothing merged because I said it worked; it merged because the checks agreed.
